Missions
First Baptist has voluntarily associated with the American Baptist Churches USA through the American Baptist Churches of the Rocky Mountains. A portion of our church tithe goes through the region to support mission work.
Another portion of the tithe goes directly to missionaries Tom and Terry Myers serving in Bulgaria and David and Laura Parajon in Nicaragua. Within our mission finances we support four special offerings of the denomination.
Locally, mission tithe money goes to the CareNet Pregnancy Center of Southeast Colorado, Lamar Ministerial Alliance, Mary & Martha food/clothing pantry, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and MOPS.
For the last couple of years our mission giving has topped $23,000. We have also participated yearly in Operation Christmas Child. Since some within our church family have relatives in the military, we have adopted at different times two military personnel serving in Iraq by sending items that they could share with their units. Thankfully to God at this point these relatives have returned home safely.
